Travelogue

I always searched for good travelogue on places like Kolli Hills or Pichavaram and i get irritated with exaggeration and peoples portfolio pictures . This is my first and honest attempt to document one. 

  

This blog will be disappoiting for those who just look for picnic.

Rather this blog will be useful for those who are willing to relinquish their busy life

and hit the road , ofcourse most of the roads in and around Trichy , Namakkal  are muddy , bumpy i always imagine Hummers were designed for us to pave way for our own.

This blog is exclusive f0r Kolli Hills 

Kolli Hills

This Virgin hill in Namakala district is about 70 kms from Namakkal and aroung 150kms from Trichy. Kolli hills is about 1100ms high above msl. This is the next target for Tamil Nadu Tourism to develop as a tourist spot but till now i don't think Tamil Nadu tourism department is anywhere close to be success in attracting more tourists. And of-course there are no infrastructures to accommodate tourists and nevertheless we can appreciate the hills as it is.We can only snack on some fruits and some resorts are also opened till now .

At the bottom of the Hills there will be big sign board stating places of interest in Kolli Hills

but i feel only 2 or 3 places are really worth to visit and others may be our accomplishment

In anyways we will have to travel 40+ kms to pass through 70 hairpin bends to reach the height of Kolli Hills which is a village called Semmudu. 

So the first go-to place is Agaya Gangai Falls which is about 15 kms from Semmedu.

The first thing we will spot after reaching the spot is the Arapaleeshwarar temple

and a small water fall nearby where some enthusiastic people take oil massage

so we can visit these places to finish the formality. We will have to climb down 800+ steps to see the waterfall which descends from about 70-80ms and climbing down these steps wont be boring as the view of mountain range is just awesome and makes us feel accomplished after the trip and also we can spot small waterfalls cascading along with us.  And climbing up will surely exhaust us.

And more interstingly if we travel on monsoon season 'the rain' from the Agaya Gangai falls will wet quarter of the steps. Once we reach the bottom of Agaya Gangai Falls we can take bath and depth of the water till the last time we went was low maybe 5 ft .

The next spot will be sekkuparai where we will get an awesome panaromic view .

If we have a good eye and a camera we will be compelled to stay long.

We will have to travel about 7 kms from Semmudu to reach sekkuparai.

And i feel these two places will complete our trip .

Government of Tamil Nadu has created a boat house where we can picnic 

small waterfalls and some historic places can add spice to the trip.

More than anything else the ride along the hill , the fragrance of pepper and rainbow of flowers will make us spellbound. And a definite strange thing for us will be the presence of paddy fields on top of hills.

Overall good for a one day trip for a vist or picnic .
